Tutorial - Upgrading the firmware of the N95 locked
Posted by Rodrigo Piccelli on April 4th, 2008
In recent days I was approached by e-mail and in person by a number of people, and charge me updates on the site (which I promise to return in full force), they want to update your N95 purchased by operators and therefore blocked.
First of all, according to new rules on mobile phones approved by the FCC, carriers are required to unlock your phone for free, however, not all things are as simple as there are terms in these rules that give the right to keep operating the handset if the cost has been subsidized (see Kikuti !?!?!?!). In any event many people have the right not being able to unlock then prepared a brief tutorial so that you can unlock your phone and keep up with firmware updates. We go to him:
TUTORIAL
The information contained in this tutorial is an intermediate level of complexity and, if performed incorrectly, can damage your unit. I only follow the instructions to follow if you have absolute certainty that you do and do so at your own risk, in no event can be held responsible if things do not occur as expected. Now come on ...
1) Install Nokia PC Suite or NSeries PC Suite, connect your phone via USB and make sure it's detected and working properly (PC Suite mode). Usually one of the software comes on CD-ROM that came with the phone but I recommend that you download the latest version, I personally prefer the NSeries PC Suite, but you decide. ![]()
2) Download the following software:
3) Install the Nemesis Service Suite without changing any options and watch the end of the installation where it shows a brief tutorial explaining how to install a driver that is needed for its operation. Next:
- Open the program and click the "Scan for New Device" which is located in the upper right
- Click the "Phone Info"
- Click the "Read" and among other information, is displayed on the Product Code of your device
4) ATTENTION, This step is very important
At this point it switches the "Product Code" from its original apparatus blocked by an updatable. The following list provides the "Product Codes" work for the N95-1 (EURO) and N95-3 (NAM). Choose one according to the model of your device! For the record my phone is an N95-1 and I am using the Product Code 0546222. The list follows:
| N95-1 | N95-3 |
| # 0548763 # 0546222 # 0549028 | # 0552432 # 0552434 |
Question: What is the format of my machine?
Answer: The N95-1 is the protector of the camera lens, the N95-3 does not, according to the following photos:
| N95-1 | N95-3 |
![]() | ![]() |
5) Enter the Product Code in the chosen space designated, check the checkbox "Enable" and click on "Write". There, the Product Code of your device has changed, you can check if everything was properly again by the "Read" will be displayed in the Product Code you just ask.
6) Both the Nokia PC Suite as the NSeries PC Suite has a feature to perform backup of data from your current machine, I suggest you do this now.
7) simply update the firmware of your device using Nokia Software Updater by following the onscreen instructions. Be sure the battery of your phone is FULLY Load (!) Before starting the process and by no means stop the USB connection during installation, it can perform this step in a notebook as a power outage can damage your unit to ever.
8) Ready! Your phone is updated and released break! But wait a little?!? Where are the contacts, calendar and settings? Yeah! Firmware update the format and the device is exactly why that was backed up. Simply restore it and this information will be devolta.
9) Reinstall your favorite applications.
10) Future updates of the firmware does not need this huge step-by-step, you can start from step 7. ![]()
That's it folks, I hope that this information is sufficient so that you can update your N95 quietly, no doubt leave a comment or send an e-mail reply that with all my heart. After this even deserve a lunch Kikuti? hehehehe
For more information about their rights and the release of equipment, visit the excellent No Lockout for sure all your questions will be resolved.
Keep visiting this site and spreading, the presence of each one of you is very important.

Rodrigo, good afternoon. First, congratulations on the site. Here we find many important information to use even more our N95.
My question is as follows. I do everything that the tutorial says, but after I install the Nemesis, but I'm in doubt. Not appearing on the screen informed the tutorial program to install the drive. You know what might be happening?
Now, thanks.

Good afternoon Paul,
This problem you are experiencing other people also faced, apparently after the upgrade to the Nokia Software Updater Nemesis crashes ...
From what I read, the solution is to uninstall all the software, install the nemesis and make the change the firmware and then install the software updater ...
Thanks for visiting and hope to have helped.

Good morning. What say what improvements the update of firmware for the N95-3 can bring? Hugs
May 2nd, 2008 at 13:05
q sure with this update the device is unlocked? axo q ... not all updates hj q I did not unlock the device and axo q pribncipalmente now they would not give this soft ... .. but the crowd q upgraded there could answer in this respect. ... especially the guys q is n95 -3 q is the clear and only has an update ....
May 2nd, 2008 at 13:05
and what were the changes .... for better and for worse ....
May 2nd, 2008 at 16:05
Mine is the N95-3 unlocked. Naturally, a firmware update does not unlock the device; software are different. I only update the firmware of my if, reportedly made relevant amendments, otherwise leave as is, because it is very good. As this model is newer than the N95-1, several problems were corrected, as the slide stronger, battery with more capacity, faster ... etc. ..
May 2nd, 2008 at 17:05
it is .... but the beginning of the post, was told that fw update after the phone was unlocked and I agree with you q update does not unlock. but my question is on the upgrade of fw 10.xxxx for 11.xxxxx the n95-3. pq read in some places there is no difference q and the gps will restart the qndo cell is activated. I would like to think of who have already upgraded whether it's worth, pq to find the version 10 very slow despite having a powerful processor ... ..

Hello everyone ...
Collect information to mount this post on various sites on the Internet and everywhere was informed that the phone would be released, but in fact as some readers are saying, this did not happen. I did the test with the phone from a friend and do not accept the SIM card from another provider.
Anyway, the firmware update is always recommended as it fixes several flaws discovered after launch and in the case of subsidized units, some with the "personalization" that operators do and I particularly hate.
I am researching a little more about the process called "SIM Unlock", but this would allow the use of any SIM card and so I know more about it here in the public site.
I apologize to all the misunderstanding ...
May 28th, 2008 at 21:05
Finally came the new version of firmware - 20.2.011-for Nokia N95-3 or RM 160.
June 13th, 2008 at 10:06
Thank you, Rodrigo, the tutorial.
Confirming the part of the Driver of the NSS, it appears that more is not necessarily this step. Just ignored (because he did not ask for any insatlar hardware) and everything worked as planned.
I upgrade my N95-1 20.0.015 to 20.0.015. I think it was much quicker. Remarkable when you change the screen from vertical to horizontal position. It seems that a little more economic.
Tip: After the upgrade, it tries to reinstall all applications that are memory card, which led me to connect problems, slowness, and always a message that not install anything that is not specified. Was enough to reinstall everything I had on top of everything above to return to normal.
Another option would be to remove by force the memory card, connecting it via USB mode Data Transfer you can see everything that is within it.

Refresh is always recommended, because the new versions bring improvements and fixes.

Good afternoon everybody, I'm in the same class of RM-160 10.2.006 - original CLARO, and only began to worry about fw for my Lifeblog the unit, which one day to another, began to acknowledge error " can not access the database of Lifeblog. I understand that many people in various forums still complain that they can not upgrade. I wonder if it really works for the update v.11.2.009 only changing the Product Code, and if so, what would the PC used. I have that many people insecure, and also I am. I called the course and gave me two answers, 1) connects to the Nokia! 2) exchange for a new N95 ... So I bet the experience of staff who had success. Who can help me?

Hello Christian, once updated there is no way to return to a previous version of Firmware.Tente update again but avoid backing up settings and applications, save only the contacts and the items Calendário.É an arduous task of reinstalling everything, but for my experience in the firmware update, unfortunately this is the best caminho.Abraços

Personal
I upgraded my N95-3 course for the R160 firmware v 20.2.011 on 31/10/2008. I had to change the product code to achieve, however, and see some good improvements, I noticed that the battery has to spend too fast, like 10 hours, but lasted on average 2 days. And tb noticed that the unit became very warm. Do not let any software loaded automatically and do not use any function of the device and even then these symptoms occurred.
Does anyone have any tips, I went through these problems?
Thank you very much.

Good morning friends!
RS and I'm interested in buying a n95 in Mercader Free, but want one with the lowest price in mind, then I see that there are various devices N95-1 (European).
If I do as your tutorial for firmware upgrade, I can turn a N95-1 N95-3 (American) to work in the frequency of 850 MHz, for I am of course 3G customer and it only operates in full here in my city?
Or is there another way?
I look back.
